ETI Salutes Former WWE wrestler Kamala, dies at age 70 from Covid19

In order to be a legend you have to learn from and study the legends.

A legend today is known for their noted celebrity and larger-than-life accomplishments, whose fame is well-known.

James Harris, who portrayed longtime WWE mainstay Kamala, has died at the age of 70, the WWE announced on Sunday, August 9, 2020.

Harris, whose nickname as Kamala was “The Ugandan Giant,” wrestled more than 400 matches over the course of several stretches with the WWE. Billed at 6-foot-7, 380 pounds, his stints with the WWE in 1984 and 1986-87 both culminated in WWE championship matches against Hulk Hogan.

Harris also shared the ring with Andre the Giant, Jake Roberts, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, The Undertaker, Bret Hart and The Ultimate Warrior.

Harris most recently wrestled for the WWE in 2006, but over the course of his 30-plus-year career, he spent time with other promotional giants, including WCW, World Class Championship Wrestling and Mid-South. He took center stage in the mid-1990s with Tennessee-based promotion USWA, where Harris was a four-time world champion and engaged in a memorable rivalry with Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Harris continued to wrestle for small regional promotions until 2010. Health issues, including diabetes, led to Harris having his left leg amputated below the knee in November 2011, and his right leg was amputated in April 2012.
