Notorious B.I.G aka Christopher Wallace has earned a street in his birth name. The block where the Notorious B.I.G grew up is located at St. James Place between Fulton Street and Gates Avenue in Brooklyn. The street will now be co-named Christopher Wallace Way, which is the late rapper’s birth name along with the names of other famous artists.
LeRoy McCarthy, the local culture advocate that was behind pushing for these streets to be renamed said, “I’m happy that NYC officials are finally giving the city’s indigenous ‘Hip Hop’ music the respect and recognition that it deserves. It took a long time and lots of hard-work to advance the Christopher Wallace Way…but ya know what, Hip Hop Don’t Stop.”
To make Christopher Wallace Way Official, the New York City’s mayor Bill de Blasio has to sign off on the bill.
